Is Microneedling Painful?

RF Microneedling Is it painful?

Is Microneedling Painful? My clients often ask me this question. You will feel a prickling sensation from the microneedles and a warmness if RF energy is being used; this sensation will vary in intensity considerably depending on what type of Microneedling device is being used. In this article, I want to compare sensations with the Focus dual Radiofrequency Microneedling device.

I have tried several Microneedling devices Dermaroller and Microneedling Pens, to my Focus Dual’s RF Microneedling device.

Let's compare!

With a home-kit Dermaroller, I was too scared to push deep as it was already painful just rolling the skin lightly. I was also worried about the hygienic side as I had to sterilise before and after every use. It was too much hassle and discomfort for me.

I have also tried Microneedling pens. The needles are replaced every time, so I felt safer, but it was painful for me, and there was pinpoint bleeding in some areas, which I didn’t feel comfortable with. My face was really red, and my husband looked at me with horror when I came back home.

Next, I tried the Focus Dual’s RF Microneedling. This device uses Vacuum Suction Technology to lift your skin slightly first, then apply non-insulated ultrafine needles into the skin. At the same time, radiofrequency energy is transmitted from the needles down into the surrounding tissue to generate direct thermal heating of the dermis layer. This stimulates a micro-wound healing response to create new collagen.

In Conclusion

First, I felt the Vacuum Suction Technology helped to reduce uncomfortable sensations and targets a precise depth.

Second, this device's ultrafine needles, only 0.16mm in diameter, reduced discomfort. I couldn’t find anything finer than this on the market. Home-kit Dermaroller needles are usually 0.5mm. You can tell why it was so painful when I tried it on myself!

Finally, I like the result of RF Microneedling the best. This treatment gives you quicker and more effective results than standalone Microneedling treatment. My face was pink after the treatment but calmed down very quickly. It is virtually no downtime.

Is RF Microneedling for you?

RF Microneedling treats the epidermis and dermis layers of the skin, so it is ideal for anybody who wants to refine their skin surface and is fantastic for general skin rejuvenation.

Results can be seen after one session, but 3-5 treatments every four weeks are recommended to get the best results.

Most people see an improvement 2-3 weeks after the first treatment. Results are natural and get better over the next 2-3 months. During this time, older collagen structures are replaced by new strong collagen. For more detail, please read my article how long to See the Results of RF Microneedling?
