DermShield™ technology works by temporarily suppressing neurogenic inflammation caused when a chemical peel is applied to the skin.
When a chemical peel is applied to the skin, a signal is sent to the type C nociceptor. A type C nociceptor in the skin detects the skin's pH level and temperature similar to nerves that detect pain.
