What Causes Wrinkles?
Wrinkles start with fine superficial lines. You will usually see these fine lines around your face and neck, which can develop into deep-set wrinkles, becoming more visible over time. However, fine lines and wrinkles are a natural part of ageing that can appear as early as the mid-20s.
- Age: Our body begins to lose collagen from around the mid-20s, and the skin becomes less elastic and more fragile. As we age, facial fat diminishes, and muscles and ligaments weaken. This causes loose, saggy skin and wrinkles.
- Long-term sun exposure: Ultraviolet light (UVA & UVB) damages collagen and elastin fibres. This leads to reduced support from the connective tissue and skin losing its strength and flexibility, causing fine lines and then wrinkles.
- Smoking: Nicotine causes blood vessels to narrow and reduces oxygen flow and nutrients to skin cells. This also damages the skin structures, which are vital for skin elasticity and health.
For daily anti-ageing routines, apply a high-factor sunscreen every day. Moderate UV exposure can still damage your skin over time. Choose the right sunscreen for you.
Anti-Wrinkle Treatments
We provide non-surgical anti-ageing treatments to stimulate your collagen production:
RF Microneedling uses radiofrequency energy and ultrafine needles to resurface and improve skin texture.
HIFU uses focused ultrasound to tighten and firm the skin.
Combining both treatments provides one of the best anti-ageing treatments.
