Chemical Peel and your Skin

When I talk about Chemical Peels, many people ask me questions like

Is it safe? Is it painful? and Does it work?

The answer is, “It depends on what type of Chemical Peel treatment you have and what products the practitioner uses.”

I want to give you the details about Chemical Peeling so you can find out what the best treatment is for you and your skin.

What is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel is a non-surgical aesthetic procedure using an acidic solution on the skin to remove dead skin cells. Removing dead skin cells encourages the growth of new cells and boosts collagen production to improve your skin texture.

Types of Peel

There are 3 types of chemical peel:

  1. Light or Superficial peels: AHA’s, BHA’s, Pyruvic Acid, Jessner

Superficial peels cost around £100-£150 and are the most popular treatment. They are the safest option, and there is minimum downtime. They are suitable for all skin types and colours.

  1. Medium peels: 30-40% TCA(Trichloroacetic acid)

Medium peels usually cost around £500 per session. The skin looks red after treatment like severe sunburn. Most people take 7-10 days to heal.

  1. Deep peels: 88% Phenol

Deep peels usually cost around £2000-£3000 per session and are not popular anymore because they are very aggressive and painful. Recovery can take months to heal completely.

Both Medium and Deep peels are not suitable for darker skin tones as they can cause irreversible hyper/ hypo-pigmentation.

Are Chemical Peels good for the skin?

Superficial Chemical peels are ideal for people who want to minimise the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scars, and uneven skin tones. The skin will be noticeably smoother and softer as the chemical peel penetrates deeper and faster than standard facials.

What is Noon Aesthetics Chemical Peel?

Our NOON Aesthetics Chemical Peel is a superficial peel that uses ingredients such as 50% Glycolic acid. This is quite a high concentration compared to other brands.

How can we use such a high concentration? We use innovative DermShield™ technology. This technology suppresses neurogenic inflammation caused when a chemical peel is applied to the skin.

Suppressing this neurogenic inflammation reduces any tingling, burning, itching, or redness during the treatment, making your treatment more comfortable.
