Negatives of Laser Hair Removal
Laser hair removal is becoming a popular choice for long-term hair removal. We read so many great things about it, but it is also essential to learn about the negative side of laser hair removal:
No more Suntan/Fake tan during treatment
Avoiding suntan can be difficult, especially if you are on holiday somewhere hot or sunny. Unfortunately, tanned skin cannot be treated as this can cause adverse reactions such as burns, blisters or pigmentation changes. You need to wear SPF and protect your skin from UV rays all the time.
No more Waxing/Plucking during treatment
Laser hair removal targets hair that is attached to hair follicles. If you wax or pluck your hair, the treatment won’t work, and you will be wasting your money. You can shave or trim instead.
More expensive than short-term hair removal
Compared to shaving or waxing, laser hair removal is more costly. This is because good-quality laser machines are expensive, and regular services are required by a qualified engineer.
It’s Hair Reduction, not Permanent Hair Removal.
Laser hair removal is up to a 90% hair reduction treatment, not permanent hair removal, due to complications of hormones and medications etc. A course of laser hair removal treatments is needed for initial hair reduction, and maintenance treatments might be required after that.
Want to be hairy again? It’s too late.
After the treatment, if you change your mind and want to go back, it will be too late. Think carefully about what body parts you want to treat before you start.
Here is the dilemma. Short-term hair removal methods such as shaving or plucking might sound like an easier and quicker choice, but you will need to do it almost daily for the rest of your life. And don’t forget that ingrown hair is very common with those methods.
Laser hair removal is initially more expensive, but the lifetime cost of shaving or waxing is not cheap either. Let alone the cost of your time! It comes down to priority. Do you want to save Money, Time or Both?
